After seeing Jonathan Adler Happy Chic bed inside Jcpenney a few years ago I was in love

Was in love with the whole Happy Chic collection its bright colorful and fun, even though the collection was a more affordable option for Jonathan Adler it wasn't in my budget. Since then I was inspired to create my own. When planning on designing my two girls room I decided on a moroccan theme then suddenly came to mind was the bed, the shape puts me in mind of a moroccan design.
So I started planning the shape of the bed on a twin size scale. I went to Lowe's and bought 4 x 8 MDF I think it was about $26 and got it cut in half.
I measured out 39in then marked half of that I then used a bowl and cardboard to draw on the design. Cutting it out, I was excited and nervous at the same time it was my first time ever using a power tool and I did pretty good if I do say so myself
I then had to repeat on the next piece of MDF, traced the shape and cut it out
I bought batting and a king size mattress pad from Walmart the batting was on clearance for $9 and the pad was $39. After using the batting I wish it was a thicker material I may have gotten the wrong kind I don't know I just couldn't pass up the deal
I laid the wood on the foam and cut it out attached it to the MDF next wrapped it with batting. Next on to the fabric I got from Fabric.com it was the Upholstery velvet white at $6.98yd I got 6.5 which came out to $45.37. It was the the hardest part of the whole project I became frustrated and felt like giving up on the whole thing but with the help and encouragement of my fiance I was able to smooth out the fabric around the curves of the headboard
The pesky wrinkles
Finally with the tugging and pulling by my strong fiance lol
On to the nail heads I got from Diyupholsterysupply.com I got 1000 of the nickel plated upholstery nails head size 7/16" price was $26.78. It took the longest and most tedious amount of time but I feel like it was worth it I didn't want to do the strips of nail heads because it seems like you can never get them straight around the curves I used about 420
I also got the legs and spray paint from Lowe's(my fiance works there, Discount woot woot lol) I did three coats with an hour in between each of them
I read a blog where she converted a box spring to a platform bed and I thought that was a brilliant idea I tried to follow her instructions but it just wasn't working out so I decided just to hand stitch my fabric around the bed then stapled it down underneath. I then added my leg plates the Waddell straight top plate $1.98 each and attached the legs I used Waddell 6in pine traditional at $2.98 each I got 8
I was so excited by this point because I was finally finish after three days of on and off work, too bad I still have to make the second one hopefully it goes smoother then the first (Pray for me)
